🏈 In 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016, the highest scoring team of the regular season (the Great Golden Ball winner) failed to win the League Championship. In those same years, the team with the best W/L record (the “Krull” regular season champion) also failed to win the title. The only year a Great Golden Ball winner or regular season champion has won the League Championship was 2011. The Macho Madness won both awards, going 10-3 and scoring a league high 1718 points.
🏈 An inter-divisional rivalry reminiscent of the 49ers and Cowboys of the 90s is brewing between Krull and Harnish. In 2014, Krull bounced Harnish in the Wildcat round of the playoffs on his way to the Chandler Bowl where he defeated Jordan Binkerd. In 2015, Harnish pulled off a road upset against Krull and his league-best 10-3 record in the Final Four; Harnish would go on to defeat Binkerd in the 2015 Chandler Bowl. In 2016, Krull bounced back against Harnish's 11-2 Ultimate Wario squad, upsetting them in the Final Four and putting an end to their dynastic quest for 4 titles in 6 years. A week later Krull defeated Corey's Boo's Our for Harambe for his 2nd League Championship in 3 years.
🏈 Harnish's 2016 Ultimate Wario squad posted an 11-2 record, tied with Corey Palmer's 2012 Mordor Mongrel's for the best in league history. However, much like the Mongrel's, Ultimate Wario failed to make the title game after getting upset in the Final Four.
🏈 Ultimate Wario entered week 13 of the regular season 11-1 but missed out on the first ever "one-loss season" when they lost to Jordan Binkerd's 8-4 Hyrule Heroes 125-116.6. The Hyrule Heroes posted an impressive 9-4 regular season record and secured the #2 seed. However, they failed to show up for the Wildcat Round of the playoffs, losing 96-76 to Sarah's #7 seeded Gigolos and the Giant Peach. Sarah's Gigolos were bounced the following week by Corey's 2016 Runner-Up Boo's Out for Harambe.
